China improves learning environment at Vaimauga College
Teachers and students at Vaimauga College had several reasons to celebrate on Friday.
The occasion was the opening of their upgraded school facilities and the presentation of new computers to the school.
The projects were funded by China. Chinese Ambassador to Samoa, Chao Xiaoliang, cut the ribbon.
Students and staff members acknowledged China for their generosity through songs, dances and speeches in the Chinese language.
The project covered classrooms, restrooms and new computers.
Principal, Faumuina Tovio Taefu, said renovation work was initiated as a protective measure against Covid-19.
“Some four facilities were below standards since the beginning (of the state of emergency) and we were determined to improve them because of protection against the virus,” he said.
“Hence, we’re really grateful that this project we’ve dreamt of has been completed successfully.”
Faumuina added that they welcome the donation of computers, which should help the students keep up to date with the rest of the world.
The Principal said he requested the Chinese Ambassador for assistance in the beginning of the lockdown.
