From strangers to friends to registered nurses

A group of five strangers became friends when they met in their Foundation year at the National University of Samoa in 2015.

Five years later, they are more than just friends. They are also registered nurses.

“We were strangers at the time because we were educated in different colleges," said Miracle Bette Manuleleua Lauese.

"But when we met at N.U.S in our foundation nursing courses we became friends.

“I thank God for my friends, they have always been there to encourage me throughout my journey.

"They have been by my side as I strive to become a registered nurse."

Their six year friendship isn’t perfect but they have stuck it out.

“We have our ups and downs," says Miracle.

"I can recall one of the arguments which led to us distancing ourselves from one another and lost communication between us. Those times were the hardest of my life."

The close relationship between Miracle and her friends is something that has helped them in achieving their goal of becoming a nurse.

“There was one time I actually gave up on dream, but my best friends have been advising me not to give up that easily,” she said with tears.

She believes that her best friends whom she now calls family are always there to lift her up when she’s down.

“The tears that you see are tears of joy for finally achieving my goals not only that but having graduated with my family (her best friends) made this occasion one to remember."
