Local artists, church choirs and live bands ushered in the new Year in front of the Government building.

Among them was Mark Su’a who performed with brother Nicky Su’a.

They are the sons of popular musician, Su’a Misiluki Su’a.

Mark told the Samoa Observer that he was excited to bring cheer to the people of Samoa lat the start of 2020.

“Tonight’s performances is a rare opportunity,” he said.

“This is the first time we are bringing together the nation’s local artists to deliver a heartwarming message and reminisce about what we have all been through this year.

“This year that is ending on a high for sure and the praise goes back to God for his guidance.”

An anthem for the lives claimed by the 81 measles epidemic called 'Savali i le pogisa' was also played.

“Whatever problems we’ve all encountered in 2019, tonight is when we will all be pushing those aside to welcome the next year.

“There will be new changes but most importantly, may our families be filled with peace and happiness.”

Other entertainers include Vania Toloa, Pili’o’ua Band, Lion Band, Mauto’atasi, Ben Petana, Ta’i Logoipule and many others.

Entertainment was scheduled to start at 10a.m but the bad weather delayed technical set ups.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa addressed the nation just before midnight.
