Vaiusu Primary School celebrated the opening of a $66,000 school building project on Friday.

Principal, Levaopolo Natanielu Paoa, said the school needed two classrooms and an office to accomodate the growing school roll.

Fundraising by parents and teachers collected $16,000.  They also took out a loan of $50,000 from the Development Bank of Samoa (D.B.S.).

"We are extremely grateful that this project is completed," said the Principal.

The project, he added, aims to provide a better learning environment for students at the school.

Vaiusu Primary has a roll of 400 students.

The eight classrooms could not accomodate them all.

"Years 7 and 8 had to combine and sometimes conduct their classes at the hall. But now, Year 7 and 8 will now occupy the two new classrooms."
