Ten contestants to vie for Miss Samoa title
Ten contestants have been confirmed to run for this year’s Miss Samoa Pageant.
This year's line-up was revealed by the President of Manaia Event Incorporated, Lei'ataua Jerry Brunt, during an interview with the Sunday Samoan.
Manaia Event Incorporated is organising this year's pageant.
“The majority of contestants are from overseas: four from Australia, two from New Zealand, one from America and two locals,” he said.
“We had 44 interested but for various reasons we had no control over the numbers dropped and we now have ten.
“The theme for this year’s pageant is ‘Talofa Samoa’, which is a slogan that has not been used frequently, if you go to Fiji you get Bula, Cook Islands has Kiorana but if you come Samoa its 'hi', 'hello' or 'good morning'.
"We wanted to make the theme a trend and Talofa (Hello) goes together with ‘Beautiful Samoa’ being the theme for Samoa Tourism Authority."
He stated that they have released the 11 topics for contestants to speak on in the pageant but they have not chosen their individual topics yet.
“The topics are significant and current for Samoa and also based globally. The categories are the same as every year but we will have traditional inspired category back together with sarong, and puletasi.
“The official launch of the pageant where all the contestants will be revealed is going to be held on the 31st of August.
“So far, we have sponsors like: Samoa Airways, Salote Florist, Orator Hotel, Peata’s Salon, Vanu Studio, Jackie’s Beauty Creation, Mena, and Ozki Band.
“Corporate tables’ tickets will be sold for $2000 at Brunt Lawyers at Savalalo but the general admission is sold at the door on the night of the show for $30 and the event is held at Gym 1, Tuana'imato.”-
