Cabinet returns Ulugia Kavesi to head Samoa Land Corporation

Cabinet has approved the reappointment of the Ulugia Petelo Kavesi as the Chief Executive Officer of the Samoa Land Corporation (S.L.C.).

The decision was confirmed in a statement issued by the Press Secretariat on Wednesday.

“The re-appointment is approved by Cabinet based on the recommendations from the Panel of Assessors, who found Ulugia to be the top applicant for the post,” the statement reads.

This will be Ulugia's second term in office. 

He took over the role from Afoa Arasi Tiotio who occupied the position for several terms.

Ulugia comes to the job well qualified, having two Masters qualifications from the University of the South Pacific.

“The S.L.C. General Manager graduated with a Masters of Business Administration, (MBA) in 2007 to complement by his first Masters of Arts in Development Studies in 1977," the statement from Cabinet said.

“In addition, the incumbent’s experience and performance spoke highly of his achievements as reflected by the $3 million tala dividend paid by S.L.C. to Government in 2018 during Ulugia’s initial three year term in office as CEO/General Manager.”

Ulugia has served the people of Samoa for 28 years.

He started his public service career as a Research Assistant with the U.S.P. Alafua Campus.

He has also served as Manager Research & Statistics with the Samoa Tourism Authority, Administration Manager with the Accident Compensation Board before his present role.
