Methodist Church holds Sunday School exams
The Methodist Church held their Sunday School one-day examination on Saturday as part of their children's upbringing as Christians.
The one-day examination was not only held at Methodist Churches in Samoa, but also in affiliated churches around the world, and was for children who are in school up to Year 10.
Vaimoso Methodist Church is one of the many churches that sat the exams on Saturday with Reverend Pisopa Matatia saying teachings about Christianity is also part of the program.
He said it is important for the children to be specific in their beliefs and the examination will enable them to know they are part of the Methodist Church as well as know the importance of serving as a church member.
“They should live without fundamental grounds and be raised in the Christianity way of living and basically, the program is all about the Methodist belief,” he added.
Rev. Matatia is the church minister for Faatoia Methodist Church and he supervised the examination for the Vaimoso Methodist Church Sunday school
The Methodist Church has synods in different countries and they all have different rules and regulations. For the Apia East Synod, two or three churches gather in one church to sit their exams. This year, the church organised their examination in their own church with the church ministers travel from church to church to monitor and supervise.
Fili Auro Teve — who is the wife of Vaimoso Methodist Church church minister Rev. Auro Teve — said this was the most important and challenging part of the Methodist Church's children.
For the children of Vaimoso Methodist Chruch in specific, Mrs. Teve said they have improved so much in reading and it's also thanks to the proud support of their parents.
"Parents had always been here for them and we're glad that they at least improve their reading and writing so much," she said.
