New Clerk of the Legislative Assembly

The Legislative Assembly has a new Clerk.
He is Tiatia Lima Graeme Tualaulelei, the son of the late Tapusalaia Dr. Filifiliituna and Fitimalu Tualaulelei.
Tiatia has been working for the Legislative Assembly for five consecutive Parliamentary terms (22 years) and was Manager for the Parliamentary Committee Division.
In confirming the appointment, he said he feels extremely humbled by the decision which shows the faith the Legislative Assembly has in him to do the job.
Tiatia takes over the role from Sefuiva Charlene Malele, whose contract was terminated as a result of an investigation by the Audit Office.
The investigation has since been referred to the Ministry of Police.
"We have a lot of work to do," Tiatia said.
According to Tiatia, the investigation brought light onto the many internal changes that have to be implemented.
“We also want to dismantle the old practice of having favorites in the office. That is an unhealthy feature in any work place and it has be eliminated,” he said.
Tiatia served under the tenure of two former Speakers, Tolofuaivalelei Falemoe Leiataua and La’aulialemaleitoa Leuatea Schmidt.
He has presided over several Commission of Inquiries including the Road Switch Inquiry 2008-2009, Electoral and Constitutional Amendments 2006/2011, Special Committee Inquiry into the Land and Titles Court Procedures 2017, Electoral Legislations 2018-2019 and others.
Tiatia is married to Leaupepe Sosefina and they have four daughters.
He acknowledged the support of his spiritual parents, Reverend Elder Utufua and Taiaopo Naseri, of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa.
