“Blessings on blessing.” 

Those words guided the celebration of sweet love for Kolisi Apelu Viki and Dr. Brian Alofaituli on Friday when they exchanged vows in holy matrimony. 

Held at the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (C.C.C.S.) Levi Sale’imoa, the couple was overjoyed to witness the coming together of the village, families and friends to celebrate their special day. 

There was a slight twist. As opposed to the modern trend of having multiple bridesmaids and groomsmen, the couple kept it simple.

The daughter of Reverend Isa’ako and Peleisei Viki who works for the World Health Organisation in Samoa, Kolisi had her mother as the maid of honour. 

The groom did the same, having his father as his best man.

Dr. Brian is a Historian by profession who works as a Lecturer at the National University of Samoa. He is the son of Taito and Susie Alofaituli. 

“This is us celebrating our families together, hence not having the usual bridal party, we opted for our parents," Mrs. Alofaituli said. 

“They raised us from as when we were babies, put us through school and see us through our careers and they have been there through our ups and downs.  

“And when finally when that day comes they will give us away on our wedding days and instead we wanted our parents to know they are indeed the bests of friends that we have and therefore, they should be the sole witness while exchanging our vows before God."

According to the bride, the wedding was more of a celebration with families. 

The ceremony was held at the C.C.C.S. Levi Sale’imoa with the reception at  St. Therese Leauva’a, which lasted into the night. 

The couple were constantly reminded about  1 Corinthians 13:4-8: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth."
