‘An honour to serve’
Fa’asaleleaga No. 3’s new Member of Parliament, Tofa Li’o Foleni, is honoured.
For the first time in more than 40 years, he has become the first person from Saipipi to represent their constituency in Parliament.
To the businessman who won with 561 votes, the honour is not something he takes lightly.
“All I can say for now is that I am very happy and honored,” he told the Sunday Samoan yesterday.
First and foremost, he wants to thank God.
“I know that he made this possible for me and I am grateful to him for His blessings; I owe everything to Him.”
Secondly, Tofa wanted to thank his village of Saipipi and everyone who supported him and had given him their trust.
“I know the competition was tough within our constituency and I am thankful to each and every one of you who have voted for me and who have granted me this great opportunity to represent our district.
“I also want to congratulate my opponents for putting up a tough fight for our constituency. I know we all entered for the same reason and that is to help our people and to serve our district with honour.”
Lastly, Tofa wanted to thank the constituency of Fa’asaleleaga No.3 for their support.
“I know a new position or calling comes with a lot of challenges and I know it’s going to be a very bumpy road,” he said.
“But I know that with God everything is possible.”
Moreover, Tofa believes that he cannot do the job alone; therefore, he needs the support of the people of the constituency.
“Now that you’ve given me the chance to be your voice in Parliament, I humbly ask for your support as well. Together, we can take Fa’asaleleaga No.3 to the next level.”
Tofa Li’o Foleni is from the villages of Saipipi and Sapapali’i. He is married to Tuliafiafi Tofa and they have four children.
He is a businessman and he also spent more than forty years of his life working for the Ministry of Education.
