Two women have denied 40 charges of theft as a servant and forgery, amounting to more than $300,000, in the Supreme Court on Monday.

Solialofi Paulo and Falanika Meko allegedly stole $330,000 from Swire Shipping Services over six months last year.

The Supreme Court Judge Justice Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma has adjourned the matter for a two-week hearing on 9 November 2026.

It is alleged that the pair stole by forging signatures on cheques belonging to Swire Shipping Services.

Both are out on bail with the condition that they surrender their travel documents and sign at the Apia Police Station once every week until their hearing in November.

Moreover, another woman has appeared for charges of theft as a servant.

Tepora Tapuotaota appeared unrepresented and has revealed to the court that she couldn't afford a lawyer to represent her.

Justice Roma told Tapuotaota that the court orders the registrar to arrange for a legal aid counsel to represent her due to the seriousness of the charges against her before the court.

Tapuotaota is facing five charges of theft as a servant from her former employer.
