Samoa has brought Pacific women’s voices to the United Nations, emphasising the country’s commitment to justice, inclusive governance, and stronger protections for women, children, and families.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mulipola Anarosa Molioo delivered Samoa’s official statement at the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70). She stressed that justice must reach women and girls not just in law, but in everyday life.

“Around the world today, millions of women and girls still ask a simple question: Will justice reach me?” she said. “Justice must be visible in our communities, supported by policy, and strengthened through national action.”

Samoa’s programs include the District Development Programme, which dedicates 20 per cent of its WST 51 million fund to Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion initiatives, giving women, youth, and vulnerable groups a voice in local development.

The government also supports the prevention of violence against women through the Pola Puipui National Prevention Framework and the Village Representatives Programme, linking families to services and support.

Early Childhood Development is a priority, with more than 60 per cent of the population aged 35 and under. Samoa will introduce a Child Wellbeing Benefit in July 2026 to support families and young children.

“Justice for women and girls cannot remain words in our declarations. It must be felt in every home, seen in every woman, and lived by every girl,” Mulipola Anarosa Molioo said.

Samoa’s delegation included government ministers, officials, and youth representatives, carrying the country’s message: “When women rise, communities strengthen, and when communities strengthen, nations flourish.”
