Ross Vaitele closed after fire incident
The Ross Samoa and Tuki Pacific store in Vaitele has been closed temporarily after a small fire incident, which was attributed to an electrical fault.
When the Samoa Observer visited the store on Wednesday, two fire trucks were outside. Staff members were gathered on the side of the shop.
When asked about the incident, a supervisor there said it was just a drill.
However, the company has issued a notice on social media on Saturday informing the public of a temporary closure while a thorough review is conducted of the building's fire safety system, including alarms, electrical systems, and emergency response procedures.
"While the incident was contained quickly, we believe that taking the time now to strengthen our safety system is the right and responsible decision for our staff, customers, neighbouring businesses and the wider Vaitele Community," the management said.
"At Ross Samoa, the safety of our people and community will always come before business operations. The temporary closure allows our team and the relevant authorities the time needed to ensure that when we reopen, our store meets the safety standards moving forward."
Ross Samoa acknowledged the Samoa Fire and Emergency Authority for their quick response.
