Tuaopepe elected to lead SASNOC

The Samoa Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (SASNOC) has appointed Tuaopepe Jerry Wallwork as its new president for the next four years.
Tuaopepe is no stranger to the sporting sector and is the President of the Samoa Weightlifting and coach.
He takes over from predecessor Pauga Talalelei Pauga and was elevated to the position during the SASNOC General Elections on Tuesday.
Congratulations poured in from international bodies for Tuaopepe’s appointment who also holds senior positions in those organisations.
Held at SASNOC head office, Faleata Sports Complex the General Elections followed SASNOC Annual General Meeting.
According to the SASNOC press statement, the Independent Election Commission comprises three members in charge of the election processes as required by the SASNOC constitution.
Twenty-six affiliated national federations from Olympic and non-Olympic sports represented 39 voting members who cast their votes for the Executive Board positions.

6. Board Member | Lilomaiava Filifilia Iosefa (Squash)
7. Board Member | Leulua’itumua Kaino Thomsen-Fuataga (Taekwondo)
8. Board Member | Oloipola Fa’afetai Tauiliili (Basketball)
The outgoing president congratulated the newly elected executive board and wished them well for the next four years. He also extended appreciation to stakeholders and partners and their support.
In his maiden speech of acceptance, Tuaopepe acknowledged the General Assembly for its confidence in him to lead the Executive Board in the next quadrennial period.
He emphasised the priorities of improving the development of sports in Samoa by adhering to good governance, transparency, and membership.
