The Samoa Airport Authority (SAA) announced that random vehicle checks will commence at Faleolo International Airport starting Monday, March 31, 2025, as part of an initiative to enhance security.

According to an official notice from the SAA to the general public, all private or commercial vehicles entering the airport premises will be subject to inspections. The checks will take place at the entrance gate and will be conducted by Airport Security Officers in collaboration with the Samoa Police.

The notice, signed by the General Manager of the Samoa Airport Authority, Tumanuvao Evile Falefatu, stated that the initiative is part of SAA's ongoing commitment to enhancing the safety and security of all passengers, staff, and visitors at the international airport.

“The inspections will involve verifying vehicle documentation, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and reviewing any cargo in accordance with airport security policies,” stated the notice. “These measures are vital to maintaining a secure environment and ensuring that all vehicles meet the necessary operational and safety standards.”

The notice urged the public to cooperate with authorities, acknowledging that the security screenings may cause minor delays. “We kindly ask for your understanding and patience as we work together to strengthen the security and safety of Faleolo International Airport for the benefit of our beautiful Samoa,” the notice stated.
