Toamua man gets first home
For the first time, a man and his seven children of Toamua Uta have a proper home. All this was made possible by the Agape Church in Samoa through their Agape Home project under the South Seas Christian Ministries.
Sauleone Ioane is the first recipient of the $72,000 home by the Agape Home, not only did they provide them a home but they also built a bathroom behind the house and provided a water tank for the family.
Ioane and his family used to live with relatives.
He mentioned how grateful he is for such a blessing. He never thought he would be selected considering that there were other families too.
"I am very grateful and happy that this project has selected me and my family. I am a member of the Protestant Church in Apia, but I came across this project when I met Pastor Nofo. He shared about this project so I seek assistance for this," he said.
"And this is the result, my children now have a stable home. I am the breadwinner of this family and all my seven kids are in school. This is a huge help for me and my children. I want to acknowledge the Agape Church and everyone involved in this project."
The Executive Director of South Seas Christian Ministries Pastor Nofoaiga Eletise Masina said this initiative to build homes for families in need was inspired by a sermon in 2020. The project aims to provide suitable living spaces for families.
"I was born and raised here in Samoa in the village of Safaatoa. I was also educated here until I moved overseas. That's how my Ministry lives. All my ministry life may be back overseas and in other countries, but this is the first time I'm back here to build this. It was from a sermon I preached in 2020, and from that time God told me that I need to look back into our backyard," he said.
"My family was not well off here, and I feel like God brought me back here for this. The process is that we interview families, write a report, present it in front of our board, and then pray and talk about it. After that, we then select the families. This is the first home for our project.
"For the father and the seven kids, we wanted to make sure they have a suitable place to live. Since I have lived that kind of life, you know I have been there. God is bringing me here for a reason. We went to the village of Siumu yesterday to look at the five families. This is the first of the many homes that we are building."
