For Tovaleinu'upule Palemia T. Reupena, better known as "Tovale" or "Tinā," age is nothing but a number.

At 60 years old, Tovale defied the conventional notion that learning has an age limit, and celebrated a remarkable achievement on Saturday, graduating from Malua Bible School.

This milestone marked the completion of her studies and coincided with her 60th birthday, making the occasion even more special.

Tovale and her husband, Reverend Elder Palemia Tauiliili Reupena, have been the resident ministers at the Congregational Christian Church Samoa (CCCS) parish in Samalaeulu, Savai'i, for the past 35 years.

Their deep commitment to faith and service is reflected in Tovale’s inspiring decision to pursue theological studies at a stage in life when many might have chosen to slow down.

In an interview with Samoa Observer following the graduation ceremony, Tovale radiated joy and enthusiasm.

“Sometimes people ask me why I signed up for this school at my age,” she said, her face beaming with a broad smile.

"There is no age restriction when it comes to seeking God's truth and understanding His purpose for us. I believe my understanding of His ministry and His word is still limited, and there is always room to expand that knowledge."

Having served alongside her husband in ministry for over three decades, Tovale highlighted the importance of continuous learning.

"Malua Bible School expands your understanding of the Bible, providing a deeper insight into God's word," she shared.

"For me, this is priceless, particularly in my role as a church minister's wife. It equips me to navigate the challenges of His ministry and foster strong, meaningful relationships with our church members."

Tovale’s journey through Bible school wasn’t just about expanding her knowledge. It was also about setting an example for others in her position.

"Just because we are church ministers does not mean we fully understand God's words," she said.

“This is a great opportunity for us to seek His word and His truth. We must never think that we know enough. There’s always room to improve and learn. Never stop learning, especially in our spiritual journey.”

Her story serves as a powerful message to other church ministers' wives and women of faith everywhere.

"Never feel like you're too old to start or too old to learn. We can never grow if we think that what we know is enough," Tovale encouraged.

As Tovale approaches her 60th birthday, she reflects on the blessings that have shaped her life.

“What a way to celebrate 60 years of God's gift of life,” she said, visibly moved. “I’m blessed to be celebrating my graduation from Bible School and 60 years of God's never-ending blessings upon my life.”

Tovale’s journey is a testament to the power of lifelong learning, faith, and the belief that it is never too late to grow and evolve in one's spiritual journey.

On Saturday, she was surrounded by her husband, children, and congregation, as well as her spiritual family in the ministry who travelled from Savai'i to celebrate this significant milestone.
