Mose spreads his wings
Mose Feagaimaalii Toomalatai took a leap of faith and opened his new business called Touch by Mose. The 21-year-old from Laulii and Matautu hopes one day he will take his passion to the next level.
"I've always been working under my friends and other people. I've been working so hard in the industry for about three years, and I believe that I haven't received what I truly deserve. Being a hair-dresser and a make-up artist has always been my passion, and not until I met Bre that I decided to spread my wings and have a go at the business life," he said.
"When I met her, we were just strangers enjoying each other's company at clubs and everywhere. But later on, I found out we were related. Small world.
'I saw how she was able to build her life up from scratch, from her shop, BBQ and also her lashes business, and so much more. It inspired me to take a step into the business world and start my own. So I just opened it this week, and I guess I can say that business has been great."
Within a week since he went into business, he has found that he earns more on his own rather than working under someone else. He never attended any school for fashion or anything related to his business, however, he was self-taught and learned from YouTube videos from influencers.
"For me, hair styling and being a make-up artist is something I believe I was born with. I have an aunty Lesina Toomalatai who studied in Fiji and is a certified hairdresser, she taught me a lot. There are other things that I hope to achieve in the long run, which is providing shelter and meals to those who are homeless," he said.
He also acknowledged the support from his family and friends. And he encourages everyone to never be afraid to take a step out of their comfort zone.
"Be authentic and follow your dreams," Mose summed it up. Touch by Mose is located in Vailima, just behind Vailima Primary school.
