Family of deceased still in the dark
The family of a man whose body was found in Faleula are still in the dark about how he died and are waiting for police to complete a post-mortem examination.
The body of the man was found in Faleula and reported to police. Police acted promptly but have not been able to determine the cause of death.
Police have referred the body for an autopsy the next time the forensic pathologist is in the country.
Samoa Observer visited the family on Thursday and they were reluctant to speak to the media, however, they disclosed that they did not know that their family had lost his life until police arrived at their home on Saturday afternoon.
The family said police have told them that an autopsy is needed to conclude the cause of death and until then investigations were ongoing.
It is believed that the man was not married and had no children. According to members of the Faleula community, the news of the body had come as a surprise.
Police have not ruled out foul play and have urged members of the public to come forward if they have any information.
