Update: Police resolve hostage situation with help from Chinese community
After hours of negotiations, the police have managed to calm a hostage situation in Siusega where a Chinese national was holding his ex-wife hostage in his shop.
Samoa Observer photojournalist at the scene, Junior S Ami reported that other Chinese nationals arrived at the scene to help the police broker a deal.
The man was taken to the police station around 7 pm. He was taken by the Chinese nationals who arrived at the scene to help. The vehicle was escorted by police.
The situation started earlier in the day as police were called to attend a domestic dispute call around midday. Three police officers were shot at with one getting injured in the shoulder.
The police officer is safe and recovering at the hospital.
The man then barricaded himself in the shop holding his ex-wife hostage.
