Police officer shot in Siusega; gunman barricades himself in shop

A police officer was injured in a shooting incident on Friday afternoon in Siusega, after being shot by a Chinese national during a confrontation. 

It is believed that police arrived at the shop to arrest the Chinese national when he shot a police officer.

The officer was shot in his shoulder and was quickly attended to. It is reported that he is safe at the hospital.

According to sources close to the investigation, the shooting occurred around 12 pm on Friday, following a domestic dispute involving the suspected gunman, a Chinese national operating a business in Samoa. Eye-witnesses in the area confirmed that the situation escalated when police were called to the scene in response to the altercation.

The man is believed to have barricaded himself inside the shop and is armed. Police have called their armed special squad and it is believed they will storm the building to arrest the suspect.
