The Sa Malietoa family acknowledged the Council of Deputies' appointment for Susuga a le Malietoa Moli Tanumafili II through a traditional presentation at Parliament on Wednesday.

Presentations of fine mats and monetary gifts were given to Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata'afa and her cabinet after the Parliament session on Wednesday. It was a way of the Malietoa family's acknowledgement for selecting Malietoa Moli.

A family member Maualaivao Pepe Seiuli said they were very honoured and happy.

"We thank God for the strength given to Malietoa and for his calling to the new post and we also would like to thank the Legislative Assembly of Samoa for having the trust in him to carry this important role," Maualaivao said.

When asked if the village of Sapapalii and the constituency were involved in the traditional presentations, he said it was only the Aiga Sa Malietoa at Malie that was involved.

"It's only the Aiga Sa Malietoa and some descendants of "Malietoa Natuitasina" who helped out," he added.

Hundreds of members of the Aiga Sa Malietoa were present at Malae o Ti'afau for the "O'o" to thank leaders for trusting Malietoa to become a Council of Deputies.

They were seen greeting most of the Members of Parliament and thanking them in person.

The last of the three newest COD, Afioga i le Tama-a-Aiga, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi is expected to have his "O'o" on Thursday afternoon after the Parliament session.
