Of the 50 plus who sat the Malua Theological College entrance exam in August last year, 24 have been accepted to start their four-year journey next month.

This was announced on Tuesday following a rigorous interview process that began on Monday.

The Ta'utinoga is a stringent interview process that tests the character, attitudes, behaviour, and conduct of successful candidates. On Tuesday, families and friends of the candidates congregated at the Congregational Christian Church Samoa (C.C.C.S.) Hall at Sogi

The Higher Council of the C.C.C.S. comprising the Elders Committee and Board of Malua presided over the interview process.

They also assessed medical reports and criminal reports for the aspiring reverends.

Among those who gathered at the hall on Tuesday was Sareta Nepo who is currently serving with her husband at the C.C.C.S. Fatuvalu parish in Savai'i.

She is a true believer that every calling is from God and people must always stand up and accept his calling.

"It is always nice to see our children, brothers and members of the church come together and offer their lives to serve in the ministry," she said.

"We hope the number continues to increase every year because it will symbolise there are more people who want to dedicate their lives to serving God."

One of the candidates said this moment marked a significant milestone in his life as he embarked on a new chapter, dedicating himself to serving the Gospel of God.

Reflecting on the journey so far, he shared that overcoming one of its most challenging phases reinforces his belief that following God’s plans is a righteous path.

"I am deeply honoured to stand here today, swearing before God, pastors, and teachers, my commitment to serve our living God and to uphold the principles and laws of this calling," he stated.

He extended heartfelt gratitude to his family, friends, and everyone who supported him along the way.

The academic year in Malua is expected to start next month.
