National exam results dates confirmed
The Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) has officially announced the release dates for the results of the national exams.
According to a notice issued by Chief Executive Officer A’eau Chris Hazelman, results for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) for Year 12 students will be available on 23 January 2025, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
Meanwhile, students in Year 10 awaiting their Samoa National Junior Secondary Certificate (SNJSC) results can expect them to be released over two days, from 29 to 30 January 2025, during the same hours.
MEC has urged all school principals to collect their respective schools’ result slips on the specified dates from the Assessment and Examination Division (AED) at Malifa. Following this, parents and students should collect their results from their schools on dates advised by the school principals.
Furthermore, the ministry highlighted that strict adherence to deadlines and fees for recount or remark requests will be required for students seeking a review of their results.
This announcement brings anticipation for students, parents, and teachers alike as they prepare for the final steps in their academic year. For further information, inquiries can be directed to MEC’s official communication channels.
When students sat their exams last year, some had not paid their exam fees.
On 18 November 2024, the Ministry of Education revealed that close to 3000 students are yet to pay their examination fees with the national exams for Year 10 and Year 12 starting this week, revealed the Ministry of Education.
During the 'Faailo Ao' program by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Assistant Chief Executive Officer Maria Lei Sam Elisaia confirmed the exam fees were still outstanding.
"As of today, for the Year 10 students, there are 1,246 students who have not paid their exam fees. And for Year 12, there are 1,375 students. However, the unpaid exam fees should not be an obstacle for these students not to sit their national examinations. They are allowed to sit their exams, but their results will be held by the Ministry until they pay their fees," she said.
She also mentioned that Year 12 students must pay their fees before the Ministry can release their results. It is part of the requirement for their enrolment at the National University of Samoa.
