SDA school gets 18 laptops
The Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) College in Lalovaea were handed 18 new laptops by the SDA Hawaii Conference on Tuesday morning.
Pastor Ivan Ostrovsky a Youth Director for the Hawaii Conference handed the laptop which would be used by students and teachers.
He said he was asked if he could help SDA Lalovaea College get laptops.
He did not know what to do so he prayed and reached out to his friend Alex who told him he knew someone in Seattle.
“And as for today a guy named Sasha donated the 18 laptops from Seattle for the school in Samoa who are in need so they can learn easier and, better and faster” he said.
“It doesn’t matter what nationality we are, we are all one in family and then when one family is doing better than the other we are to do our best for those who are in need.”
“And it’s so cool how the whole connections work because it is not about laptops but it’s the laptops that are connected through the chain of people who care for one another who want to make a difference."
Pastor Ivan also mentioned that these laptops cost almost $200,000 in Seattle.
Senior teacher Tupuola Afereti Atoa expressed sincere thanks to Pastor Ivan and the Ausage family from American Samoa for working together in trying to bring the laptops from Seattle to Samoa.
“And as teachers, they will make sure they use the laptops in a way that people will benefit from, not only gaining the knowledge from this world but better still to know God more,” said Tupuola.
“From here in Samoa, principal, teachers and the school we would like to say Faafetai tele lava (thank you) for having the initiative and answering the call to the needs of the school.
“At the beginning of this year, the students and us teachers will be looking forward to using the laptops and it would be a blessing to the school as it would be a great help for the students and the teachers.
"It will be a great help for their preparations, their plans and also helping the students to learn and achieve more."
