Helpline open in festive season
The president of the Samoa Victim Support Group Siliniu Lina Chang confirms that their free helpline will still be available 24/7 during the festive season.
The SVSG has been operating its helpline and suicide prevention helpline.
"As we approach the end of another year, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our lovely friends, our Samoan Communities, development partners, local stakeholders, and agencies," said Siliniu.
"In this busiest time of the year; SVSG kindly reminds everyone to be cautious and thoughtful of our lives and the lives of our loved ones, our beloved ‘aiga’. The festive season is all about family, love, forgiveness and sharing, so please keep our families safe and create peaceful communities while celebrating Jesus the source of the festive season."
The SVSG said it was committed to celebrating this special season and at the same, serving our communities through its free helpline.
"This is an essential service of the SVSG to our Samoan people in contributing to the shared goal of enabling peaceful Samoan families and safer communities. Lest we forget our whole of society approach in the fight against violence (GBV), abuse, drugs, alcohol, marital strifes and child negligence," said Siliniu.
The free helpline will be available to serve Samoa. SVSG is ready to help the people and ensure the safety of Samoan people during these festive seasons. Siliniu wishes everyone a joyous and peaceful festive season filled with happiness, rest, and great company of loved ones.
