A wonderful chance for local netters to gain tips and insights from Australian Diamond Donnell Wallam who will visit Samoa as part of the Team Up initiative.

This is a partnership between Origin, Netball Samoa and Netball Australia.

During Wallam's tour, which runs from 12 to 14 November, the Diamonds goal shooter will participate in community clinics aimed at motivating, interacting with, and coaching Samoan netball players.

The Australian Government will sponsor the trip through Team Up, the sports for program for development with the goal of "Transforming Lives through Sport." By motivating through collaborations around Asia-Pacific, Team Up uses sports to foster opportunity, promote inclusivity, and unite people.

Wallam will interact with community people who have taken part in Team Up's One Netball Samoa initiative during the tour and encourage them to play netball going forward in order to strengthen their sense of autonomy, self-worth, and leadership.

Wallam will provide her viewpoint as a proud Noongar woman in the Australian sporting scene, in addition to her extensive knowledge and skill set as a top-tier high-performance athlete.

In addition to honouring culture and fortifying community links around the area, Wallam's visit to Samoa will expand on an existing relationship between Pacific and Australian First Nations communities to exchange ideas and information in the sports industry.

Wallam is excited to participate in the events and motivate the upcoming Pacific netball players.

"I've valued culture and community the most throughout my netball career, so I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to experience Samoan culture, share my netball knowledge, and interact with the community. I want to inspire the community and make a difference," she said.

According to Stacey West, CEO of Netball Australia, the organisation is pleased to endorse the Team Up initiative.

"Having one of our Origin Australian Diamonds come to Samoa excites us. By interacting with community members via culture and making a lasting impression on their netball journey, Donnell Wallam will inspire and excite them. Netball Australia is excited to support the Team Up initiative, which uses netball to empower communities across the Pacific, unite people, and create opportunities," she said.

Afioga Luatua Semi Epati, CEO of the Samoa Ministry of Sports and Recreation, thanked Australia for its continued collaborations and opportunities for Samoa.

"Thank you for giving me the chance to host Donnell Wallam as a Team Up event. We are thrilled that she will be coming to Samoa to motivate and interact with our netball community. Through this program, we hope to successfully collaborate with Netball Australia and other stakeholders to foster leadership and sportsmanship," he said.

Afioga Peseta Noumea Simi, president of Netball Samoa, is overjoyed to have Donnell Wallam visit Samoa.
