33 Commonwealth leaders meet in Samoa

A total of 33 government leaders from 56 Commonwealth nations are scheduled to attend the first Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting held in a Pacific island nation.

The Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa and cabinet ministers will meet with these leaders upon arrival.

The 33 leaders include the head of the Commonwealth King Charles III and King Mswati III, King of the Kingdom of Eswatini. 

The King of Eswatini is scheduled to arrive at 6.40 am Wednesday on his private jet followed by King Charles and Queen Camilla at 6.40 pm on an Australian Defence Force aircraft. 

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa will meet and greet both monarchs ahead of the King Charles state visit that commences on Thursday morning with an ava ceremony hosted by the Head of State Tuimalealiifano Vaaletoa Sualauvi II. 

According to a schedule, there are 17 presidents and prime ministers attending CHOGM.

There will be 14 deputy prime ministers and ministers who arrived between Monday and Wednesday this week for the biggest logistical and security event held in the Pacific. 

Cabinet ministers have been assigned to welcome the leaders upon their arrival at the Faleolo international Airport.

Leaders who are expected to attend CHOGM are; Sitiveni Rabuka - Fiji Prime Minister,  Philllip Davis and Spouse - Prime Minister Bahamas, Touhid Hossain and spouse - Foreign Minister Bangladesh, Dr Denzil L Douglas - Foreign Minister St Kitts and Nevis, Frederick Stephenson - Foreign Minister St Vincent and the Grenadines, Julius Maada Bio - President Sierra Leone, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo: President of Ghana, Siaosi Ofa Vahafolau Soveleni- Tongan Prime Minister,  Mohammed B S Jallow: Vice President of Gambia, Gaston Browne - Prime Minister Antiqua and Barbuda, Hussain Mohammed Latheef - Vice President of Maldives, Nancy Gladys Tembo- Foreign Minister of Malawi, Mulambo Haimbe - Foreign Minister from Zambia,  Deputy Prime Minister of Malta, Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile - Deputy President of South Africa,  Shri Kiren Rijiju- Minister of India’s Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs,  Jessica Alupo - Vice President of Uganda,  Joseph Dion Ngute- Prime Minister of Cameroon,  Ntsokoane Samuel Matekane - Prime Minister of Lesotho, Wavel John Charles Ramkalawan - President of Seychelles, Mohammed Ishag Dar - Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan, Ketih Rowley - Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobacco,  Kashim Shettima - Vice President of Nigeria, Christopher Luxon - Prime Minister of New Zealand,  David Walsh Adeang - President of Nauru,  Lawrence Wong - Prime Minister of Singapore,  Anthony Albanese - Prime Minister of Australia, Keir Starmer - Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,  James Marape - Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea,  Mohammed Ifraan Ali - President of Guyana and Mohammed Hassan - Foreign Minister of Malaysia.
