Smooth flow at Fugalei

It was a smooth flow for buses at the Fugalei Bus Terminal on Tuesday following the closure of the Savalalo Terminal for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

There were policemen on site to ensure there were no traffic congestions.

Commuters felt that because some school children were not going to school helped in the traffic congestion.

"It is just the first day, but I believe everything went well. It's not really a big deal for me personally. I mean we all expected change because of the meeting next week. But for today, there haven't been any accidents or anything like that. Everything is running smoothly," said Tulai Toa.

One of the families selling pork buns and pancakes at the Fugalei market said the increased traffic helped with their income.

"With the buses all heading to the market, we get all the customers. It has definitely helped boost our income for the day. This morning was packed with people heading to work, and I think it also helped that schools are on break."

"The Fugalei bus terminal needs to be marked properly like the Savalalo market."

The bus terminal at Savalalo will be closed for 15 days starting from Monday 14 October.
