Samoa embraced the spirit of White Sunday this past Sunday, with church congregations across the nation honouring thousands of children.

This cherished annual event, rooted in traditions introduced by Christian missionaries in the 1800s, has evolved into a national celebration observed on the second Sunday of October each year.

This year, services were held across various denominations, focusing on the children who are the heart of the festivities.

White Sunday provides a platform for children to showcase their talents, performing skits inspired by biblical stories and addressing pressing social issues affecting today's youth.

Many parishes empowered children to lead the services, preparing them for future roles as leaders in their families, communities, and churches.

In a poignant touch, some parishes used the occasion to raise awareness about cancer, as October is dedicated to honoring cancer patients, survivors, and those who have lost their battles.

Children adorned with pink ribbons filled the churches, which were beautifully decorated in pink to pay tribute to those impacted by this disease.

For the Congregational Christian Church Samoa (C.C.C.S.), the theme "Love's highs and lows" resonated throughout the various performances and productions, encapsulating the essence of this year's White Sunday celebration.

This powerful day not only celebrated the youth but also fostered a sense of community and resilience, reminding everyone of the strength found in unity and love.
