The newly appointed Vice President of the Land and Titles Court La’ulu Henry Taefu says he is ready to take up the new challenge.

La’ulu said he was humbled by his new appointment. He said he would first and foremost thank God for blessings on him and his family.

“All I can say is that I am ready to take on the new challenges of being an LTC Vice President and will do my best to help the people of Samoa through the decisions I make every day in court,” he said.

Laulu said he knew that the task was not easy, but he was relying on the support of the President of the Land and Titles Court Lesa Rapi Vaai and the other VPs of LTC for assistance.

Laulu acknowledged the President and Committee for his appointment and especially his wife and family for their support.

In his special remarks, the President of the Land and Tiles Court, Lesa congratulated Laulu for becoming the newest VP of the LTC and elaborated that there were some slight changes in appointing any Vice President of the LTC.

Lesa said the amendment made by Parliament in appointing a Vice President of LTC was not based on seniority anymore, but the focus was now on performance.

“As you all know this appointment in the past years was based on seniority and the years of service, but the changes made by Parliament recently say that this appointment is now based on the performance assessment by a committee which is VP Afamasaga Michael Soonalole and I,” he said.

Being the eighth Vice President of the Land and Titles Court, Laulu said he would perform his God-given tasks with honesty and love for the people who come to court for help to settle lands and title cases.

Laulu was first appointed as a Judge of LTC in 2019 before he applied for the new post of Vice President.

The former Immigration Chief for 35 years told Samoa Observer that he was thankful for this new role he was taking up so that he will be able to assist the people of Samoa in any way he could with the help of God in the decisions he makes every day.

Laulu said he dedicates this new role to his wife, eight children and his grandchildren.

He also acknowledged all his siblings.

The special ceremony started with a prayer service conducted by Land and Tiles Vice President Moananu Tuasivi Setu.
