As Samoa gears up to host the prestigious Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (C.H.O.G.M.), significant road improvements are underway to ensure the island's infrastructure meets international standards.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has been working diligently to upgrade and maintain key roadways, reflecting the island's commitment to showcasing its beauty and readiness for the global event.

In preparation for C.H.O.G.M., several crucial projects have been completed or are in progress.

As the main venue for the C.H.O.G.M. Leaders' meeting, the surrounding roads and car park at the Parliament precinct have received substantial upgrades. Ott Constructors Ltd. carried out extensive work, including new line markings to enhance safety and functionality.

For the Congregational Christian Church Samoa (C.C.C.S.) hall in Sogi designated for the CHOGM Youth Forum, it has undergone a full asphalt upgrade to improve accessibility and appearance, also completed by Ott Constructors Ltd.

In addition, the Court House in Mulinu'u hosts many C.H.O.G.M. side events, and the entrance and surrounding areas have been renovated to better accommodate guests and events.

Moreover, the picturesque one-way road leading to the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum, which will host one of the main functions, has been resurfaced with asphalt by Ulia Construction Ltd., ensuring a smooth journey for visitors.

The Cross Island Road from Tanugamanono to Tiavi, this major thoroughfare is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul.

Temporary fixes have been implemented to ensure it is C.H.O.G.M-ready, with contributions from Ott Constructors Ltd. and R&R Construction Ltd.

In collaboration with the Samoa Police Service, eight roads have been constructed to facilitate the transportation of communication equipment to mountain-top towers.

Additionally, the LTA's Quality Assurance team is rigorously testing all roads to ensure they meet high standards.

A notable achievement is the newly sealed road at the Tuialamu Landslide area, completed by Lee Transport Ltd., which will benefit commuters from the East Coast.

The LTA extends its gratitude to the public for their patience during these upgrades and to the contractors for their swift and effective work.

The improvements not only aim to enhance the experience for C.H.O.G.M. delegates but also benefit the daily lives of Samoa’s residents and visitors.
