Charges yet to be finalised for double murder
Charges against a Fasitoo-uta man accused of killing a senior police officer and a man from Nofoalii in separate incidents are yet to be finalised.
Pokati Tuu also known as Pokati Faataui appeared before the Supreme Court this week for the second time since the offence in July.
The prosecutor and Attorney General’s Office lawyer, Joshua Leung Wai sought an adjournment to finalise the charges against the 58-year-old.
The defendant was not represented by a lawyer and will reappear on Monday to answer the charges once finalised.
Tuu was captured by Police on 24 July after a police hunt and was held in custody. He was charged with two counts of murder for the death of Sergeant Peniamina Perite and the Nofoalii resident.
Police reported the defendant allegedly murdered the Nofoalii man on a Sunday and he shot Sergeant Perite on Monday as he carried out his investigation into the homicide case.
