At 18 years old, Sootuli Ausage Pepe has emerged as the youngest contestant in this year's Miss Samoa pageant, representing Queensland with remarkable poise and enthusiasm.

Her participation in the pageant transcends the pursuit of a crown; it is a profound journey of rediscovering her Samoan heritage and enhancing her role as Miss Samoa Queensland.

For Sootuli, the Miss Samoa pageant is a meaningful exploration of her cultural roots. "My focus in the pageant has been reconnecting with my heritage, particularly through family and personal values," she explains.

This personal quest was highlighted during her recent visit to Samoa, as a contestant for this year's pageant where she explored her ancestral district and visited several primary schools, including one her mother attended.

"Experiencing these places was deeply moving and provided a tangible connection to my roots," she reflects.

Despite her youth, Sootuli has found encouragement and solidarity among her fellow contestants.

"The support from my beautiful sisters has been incredible. They have never made me feel out of place," she shares. This supportive sisterhood has boosted her confidence and fueled her eagerness to learn and grow.

"Being the youngest makes me even more determined to absorb everything I can from my peers and their vision for Samoa," she adds.

Sootuli's time in Samoa has left a lasting impression on her.

"The love and values of our people are truly beautiful. Even though this is my first visit, I feel a deep connection," she said.

This connection has inspired her to consider a future in Samoa, where she hopes to contribute meaningfully to the community that has welcomed her so warmly.

As Miss Samoa Queensland, Sootuli is committed to leveraging her pageant experience to benefit her community.

She plans to give back by sharing the values and insights she has gained. "My goal is to support and uplift my community by sharing the cultural pride and knowledge I have embraced during this journey," she asserted.

Through her role as Miss Samoa Queensland, she aspires to inspire others to connect with their cultural heritage and foster a sense of unity and pride within their communities.
