Leauvaa has started its preparations for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in October by colouring tyres and putting up lights by the roadside with the colours of the Fijian flag.

They will be hosting Fiji in the upcoming event in October.

Village mayor Mulitalo Afano Savelio said he was not worried about how much they would be spending on the project as long as they could host Fiji in the best way possible.

"As of now, we have started on some of our preparations, we are hosting Fiji. Hence why we have used the colours of the Fijian flag to colour the tyres where the plants are," he said.

"We've spent about $10,000 already on what we have. We've been looking for Fijian flags so we ended up getting our flags from Fiji. We will be taking down the Samoan flags and putting up the Fijian flags for this event.

"Our preparations are far from over because we believe in our Samoa's good hospitality. We don't care how much we spent on all of this, because it's all for a good cause."

The funds for the project are from their committee and the help of their village. The village has two mayors, each one is responsible for one side. Mulitalo is responsible for the side closer to Tuanai.

"The money spent on this project is from our mayor's committee funds with the help of our high chiefs and matai of our side of the village. We are responsible for this side and there's another mayor for the other side of our village he takes care of the other end."
