House makes committee changes

New changes were approved for the Standing Orders, Electoral Petitions and Constitutional Offices Committee with Fesolai Apulu Tuigamala replacing Fuiono Tenina Crichton.
The motion for the change of parliamentary committee members was put forth by Deputy Speaker, Auapaau Mulipola Aloitafua in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
Fuiono is the Member of Parliament for Falealupo and Associate Minister for the Ministry of Communications Information and Technology (M.C.I.T.).
The Member of Parliament for Aana Alofi No.1 and Associate Minister for the Ministry of Justice Courts and Administration, Fesolai will replace Fuiono on the parliamentary committee.
The changes were tabled and subsequently approved by the Parliament. It cannot be confirmed why Fuiono was replaced by Fesolai but it is clear that the M.P. for Falealupo has been absent from the past few parliament sessions.
Also from Parliament, the Speaker, Papalii Lio Masipau announced the House will suspend its sitting for Thursday and Friday to avail the leaders to attend the ordination of Archbishop Elect, Father Mosese Vitolio Tui.
Papalii said the adjournment of parliament would allow for the leaders to attend the Ordination Mass for the head of Samoa’s Catholic Church.
He added the country leaders needed to participate in the event to also show their recognition and acknowledgement of this important religious role.
Parliament will resume next week to continue its debate on Constitution Amendment Bill 2024 and its business.
