Josephina Faatupufilemu Lealaitafea will represent the Samoan community in the United States at the Miss Samoa pageant next month.

The 23-year-old was recently crowned Miss Samoa U.S.A. after a competitive pageant weekend, where she emerged victorious from a pool of five stunning young Samoan contestants.

Her win marks a significant milestone as she is the first Miss Samoa U.S.A. to be crowned in 15 years.

Currently residing in West Jordan, Utah, with her family, Lealaitafea brings a deep connection to her Samoan heritage.

Her father hails from Sala'ilua and Salani Falealili, while her mother is from Malie. Lealaitafea entered the Miss Samoa U.S.A. pageant with a clear mission: to use her platform to advance the interests of the Pacific island communities in America.

"My goal is to inspire young Pacific islanders by highlighting the importance of education, cultural pride, and community service," Lealaitafea explained.

"I want to show that with determination, we can overcome challenges and achieve success, serving as a role model for our underrepresented communities."

The Miss Samoa U.S.A. pageant team is anticipating their journey to Samoa, where Lealaitafea will compete in the Miss Samoa pageant as part of the Teuila Festival next month.

Co-founder Tofuola Alofipo expressed excitement and pride, stating, "We are thrilled to introduce our newly crowned Miss Samoa U.S.A. We are confident that she will represent our title with the utmost grace and dedication.

"As founders, it is truly a privilege to see her embark on this journey."

The pageant committee also extended their heartfelt thanks to all the supporters and sponsors who contributed to the event's success after a 15-year hiatus.

Special acknowledgments were given to former Miss Samoa and current Vice Miss Global, Haylanni Pearl Kuruppu, as well as reigning Miss Global Samoa, Nicolina Ah Kuoi, who were guests at the pageant.

In addition to her title, Lealaitafea also won several special awards, including the People's Choice Award, Miss Internet, Miss Photogenic, Best Puletasi, Best Interview, and Best Sarong, highlighting her multifaceted talents and appeal.
