Made in Samoa logo unveiled
Products made in Samoa can now receive a new logo under the Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters (S.A.M.E) to increase Samoa’s global recognition.
Samoan businesses hoping to utilise the logo for their businesses will have to undergo an application process that includes documentation, inspections, and certifications about their production methods, material sourcing, and manufacturing location.
In a speech at the event, Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata'afa emphasised the importance and power of branding and identity in global markets.
“It will not only boost sales and exports, but also elevate the perception of our nation as a hub of quality, and innovation,” Fiame said.
S.A.M.E will be the governing body overseeing the application process, certification process, and inspections to decide, monitor, and enforce what businesses can utilise the logo.
In addition, S.A.M.E will launch a campaign to educate consumers and businesses about the logo and its significance, and the importance of buying local.
The logo contains the colors red, blue, and white which represent Samoa’s national colors, the coconut tree represents the tree of life, and the tatau pattern represents Samoan culture, and traditions.
“It is a symbol that will open doors, create opportunities, and drive growth for our local businesses,” said Fiame.
“It will help us compete on the global stage, showcasing the unique and valuable offerings.”
