A terrified mother of four resorted to social media to share disturbing pictures of her children's injuries sustained from domestic abuse by her husband.

She said she had nowhere to turn to despite her best attempts to report him to the police.

In an interview with Samoa Observer, she said that this is not the first time she and her child have experienced physical violence at the hands of her husband. Despite numerous visits to the police and Samoa Victims Support Group, she was never given an adequate solution.

“I have left him numerous times, but he always finds a way to get out of it by threatening to kill himself, which makes me want to go back to him. He in turn beats me up whenever he gets upset over petty disagreements,” she said.

"I've approached the victim support and court multiple times, but I never received a resolution from them.

"I filed a divorce, but the court informed me that both of us needed to consent."

She indicated that he has recently been taking drugs, and she is certain that this is the primary trigger of his negative behaviour and demeanour.

"I know that people are bound to say I am insane and that his mother will contrive a story that portrays me in a negative light, but I can not only take so much and I no longer want to see my kids suffer," the woman said.

The overwhelmed mother further mentioned that she had suicidal thoughts and was on the verge of ending her life, but that she was kept going by the love of the good Lord and the thought of her children growing up without a mother.

The Samoa Observer attempted to get a comment from the alleged abuser, a civil servant employed at SFESA, who was identified by her wife in the aforementioned Facebook status, but has been unsuccessful due to work procedures and standards.

Aleaga Fuafiva, the Commander of Operations, revealed in an interview that this is the first week since his reinstatement following a two-week suspension due to pertinent issues.

Mr. Fuafiva further stated that Walter was given one final warning and if he does it again then he has no choice but to terminate his service immediately.
