Federal Pacific Insurance (FedPac) recently marked its ninth year of operation in the Cook Islands with a celebratory cocktail event at the Muri Beach Club Hotel.

The special celebration aimed to express gratitude to clients and customers for their unwavering support over the past nine years.

The auspicious event saw the presence of a number of FedPac clients, Cabinet Ministers, Government Officials, and members of the Cook Islands business community.

Speaking on behalf of the Government of Cook Islands, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marine Resources and Parliamentary Services Tingigika Elikana commended the FedPac Cook Islands team for their milestone and encouraged them to uphold quality service with competitive premiums and efficient claims settlement services.

With the company having offices in the Cook Islands and other Pacific Island countries, the Mr. Elikana urged FedPac to continue expanding, emphasising the importance of having a local insurance provider for Pacific islands people.

Namulauulu Papalii Sami Leota, FedPac spokesperson and Samoa-based General Manager for Federal Pacific Insurance, expressed gratitude to customers and partners for their support, emphasising the company's commitment to long-term support and technical underwriting requirements in the Cook Islands.

FedPac Insurance operates from Federal Pacific House in Rarotonga and is deeply rooted in the local community, actively supporting initiatives in various sporting and educational events.

It was also an opportunity to celebrate the milestones achieved over the past nine years and reflect on the challenges the company encountered since its establishment in 2015.

“Our key message is that we are here for the long term and we are giving 100 per cent support to the FedPac Cook Islands team, in particular for the technical underwriting requirements,” he said.

“We have learned many things in the past nine years, and we can say that we have made some progress, not only in understanding the insurance needs of the Cook Islands community, but in partnering with Government and private sector business for more specialised risks.

"Looking back its certainly not an easy sail..we have certainly climbed some mountains and went through valleys in making sure we continue to sail through."

"FED Pac Insurance was set up in Samoa in the late 1990s, and the vision and goal set from the beginning by our late Chairman and Founder, Mr Alistair Hutchison, is that we will expand operation into the Pacific Region.

"The Cook Island office was the 3rd one we set up in 2015."

The company's involvement was solidified during the COVID period, demonstrating a dedication to the well-being of the community.

In addition to celebrating its anniversary, Fedpac is also navigating challenges typical of insurance companies in the region, particularly the ability to secure good re-insurance treaties.

Despite such obstacles, the company has maintained the support of reinsurance underwriters, offering assurance to customers regarding the solidity of the insurance products provided. The company's commitment to prompt settlement of genuine claims was notable during the testing period, which included cyclones, natural disasters, vehicle accidents, theft, and fire claims.

Demonstrating a sense of responsibility to the public, the company has remained steadfast in honoring and paying out genuine claims promptly.

Looking back on the company's journey, Namulauulu highlighted the perseverance and hard work of Eleanor Rivera, the Country Manager, and the entire team in overcoming challenges and remaining dedicated to the community.

The company's dedication to providing insurance solutions for the Cook Island population has been echoed by Mrs Eleanor Rivera, who expressed gratitude for the continued support received from the public.

Federal Pacific Insurance started trading in Apia in 1999 and have since set up offices in Tonga, Cook Islands, Timor Leste, Fiji and Vanuatu with supporting underwriting offices in New Zealand and London.

Namulau’ulu acknowledged the FPG Board of Directors for support given and in particular, Chairman Papalii Alan Hutchison in continuing to pursue the vision of his late father, and Group Founder Alistair Hutchison
