Policeman denies rape allegation

A police Sergeant and a former election candidate accused of raping another female cop has denied all the charges against him in the Supreme Court.
Suspended Sergeant Laauli Magic Junior Laauli entered his plea in the Supreme Court before Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma this week.
He was represented by lawyer Tanya Toailoa acting on behalf of Mauga Precious Chang.
Laauli is facing three counts of sexual violation and six counts of indecent assault on the 27-year-old woman of Vaitele-uta.
The alleged offending occurred on 9 April 2024.
Justice Roma adjourned the matter for hearing on 17 February and the defendant continues to be on bail until then.
Laauli was suspended by the Ministry of Police and Prisons two months ago when following an investigation and the charges filed against him.
He contested in the October 2021 by-election for Falealili no.2 under the Fa’atuatua ile Atua Samoa ua Tasi (F.A.S.T.) banner running under his Fuimaono title.
He was unsuccessful following the by-election and returned to the law enforcement profession shortly after.
