Money transfer company, Pacific Ezy made a generous donation of $10,000 to the Marist Brothers Old Pupils Association (M.B.O.P.A.) in support of their preparations leading up to the centennial celebrations in July.

Held at the Development Bank of Samoa (D.B.S.), Magele Dan Ah Ku, the Country Manager for Pacific Ezy presented the president of M.B.O.P.A, Aumua Ming Leung Wai and another M.B.O.P.A Committee member, Fuiono James Westerlund with the $10,000 cheque with kind wishes for their preparations.

"On behalf of the management and the company, I present this gift of $10,000 and I also wish to use this opportunity to convey our best wishes for our association and all the best with your plans and preparations," he said.

It's been months since the M.B..P.A started its fundraising events and sought financial support from its partners to celebrate 100 years of the Marist Brothers Old Pupils in Samoa.

Aumua acknowledged the support from PacificEzy highlighting that this will be a great contribution to the association's preparations for the upcoming event.

"We're very grateful for the kind assistance or the fund provided for our association, especially knowing that these days are not that easy anymore but thank you for thinking of Marist," he said.

"Us here at Marist, we try and handle things on our own but we also rely on our partners and friends of the College to support so whatever funding we have been provided with from the company, we're very grateful.

"I understand at times, there are some lapses within the college but we try our best to develop the school for the future and provide ways to combat this and move forward."

Meanwhile, the dates of the association’s centennial celebrations were finalised last year and will take place from 29 July to 4 August 2024.

The week-long celebration will include a mass to honour their part in putting God first, a march through town, a special awards ceremony for their members who have served their country and association well, community projects, activities with their schools, music festivals, fundraisers and sports events.
