A family in Leauva'a who lost their home to a fire during the Mother's Day weekend will receive $20,000 to aid in rebuilding their home while the Ministry of Health was given $70,000.

This assistance comes from the Tautua Puapuaga o Tagata (T.P.T.) Women’s Fellowship of the Congregational Christian Church Samoa (C.C.C.S.).

The decision to extend this financial help was finalised on Wednesday during the annual T.P.T. meeting in Malua, held as part of the largest denomination’s annual general assembly currently underway.

The T.P.T.'s compassion extends beyond the Leauva'a family. The fellowship also discussed providing financial assistance to families affected by last year's flash floods in Savai'i.

In addition to these commitments, the T.P.T. demonstrated their dedication to community welfare with a significant donation to the health sector.

On Thursday morning, the T.P.T. also presented a donation of $70,000 to the Ministry of Health. The Executive members of the T.P.T. Committee visited the office of the Director General of Health to deliver the donation, which was gratefully received by Director General Aiono Professor Alec Ekeroma on behalf of the Minister and the Ministry of Health.

The Director General expressed profound gratitude to the T.P.T. and the C.C.C.S. church for their unwavering support and prayers.

The distribution of the $70,000 donation is carefully planned to address various health needs. The National Kidney Foundation (N.K.F.) in Upolu will receive $30,000, while the N.K.F. office in Savai'i will get $20,000. Additionally, $10,000 each will be allocated to the two main hospitals in Upolu and Savai'i, ensuring widespread benefit from the donation.

President of the T.P.T. Society Saiaiga Aviti Etuale said the core mission driving their charitable efforts was helping those in need.

She emphasised that the donation to the family in Leauva'a will be administered through the district where the family resides.

"Our mission is to help our people who are in need of help," she remarked.

"This is what we do every year, we give back to those in need and offer monetary assistance for our people undergoing dialysis treatments at the hospitals both in Upolu and Savai'i with the hope that the small donation we make will help make a difference."

The T.P.T. Women’s Fellowship has consistently prioritised the welfare of the Samoan people through their annual charitable activities. Their support extends to various community needs, particularly in healthcare and disaster recovery, exemplifying their commitment to social responsibility and compassion.

The impact of T.P.T.'s generosity is profound, as seen in their response to the recent tragedies and ongoing health challenges faced by many Samoans.
