Vailoa shooter surrenders, five more arrested
The man wanted by police in connection with a shooting incident in Vailoa last month surrendered on Tuesday evening and is now in police custody.
This was confirmed by the Police Commissioner, Auapa'au Logoitino Filipo in response to queries from this newspaper.
Auapa'au confirmed that he has been charged for causing injuries and assault with the possibility of additional charges. He said police continue their investigation in the matter.
Furthermore, it has been confirmed that police apprehended five additional individuals during their search for Toese Tu'uaga, from the village of Vaimoso.
They were arrested in connection to the possession of illicit drugs.
One was released on bail and is scheduled for a court mention on 18 June 2024.
The other four have been remanded in custody until 27 May for mention while Tuuaga will remain in custody until 28 May for his first appearance in court.
Tuuaga had been deported after convictions for sexual assaults.
Two weeks ago, the police sought public assistance to locate Tuuaga, also known as Ese, who was linked to two other cases. He was described as armed and dangerous.
Tuuaga is also suspected of involvement in a drive-by shooting in Sinamoga earlier this year.
