The Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services are seeking public assistance to locate a suspect involved in a recent firearm discharge incident in Vailoa.

Identified as Toese Tu'uaga, also known as Ese from Vaimoso, the 37-year-old is suspected to be linked to two other police cases.

Considered "armed and dangerous," authorities issued a public notice emphasising the seriousness of the situation.

Police Commissioner Auapa'au Logoitino Filipo confirmed progress in identifying the perpetrator during an interview with the Samoa Observer on Thursday evening.

He then urged members of the public with any information on the suspect's whereabouts to promptly contact law enforcement.

As reported earlier, an eyewitness described the shooting incident at Vailoa, occurring during a road rage altercation, as resembling a scene from a movie.

Although no injuries were reported, concerns arise as the incident bears similarities to a recent shooting in Sinamoga, where two individuals sustained gunshot wounds.

One witness, speaking anonymously due to safety concerns, recounted the alleged shooter driving a black SUV.

The confrontation unfolded at the junction of Vailoa Road and the main Vaitele Road, near the residences of the Vailoa mayor and a church minister.

While the victim escaped physical harm, they reported the incident to police, who advised gathering additional eyewitnesses before initiating investigations.

As authorities intensify efforts to locate the suspect, community cooperation remains crucial in ensuring public safety and bringing the perpetrator to justice.

Auapa'au expressed concerns about the number of shooting incidents in Samoa in the past weeks.
