Opening doors for Samoan musicians
As the ever-changing world revolving around digital platforms and technology continues to blend in, Precise Digital is opening doors for local artists to earn as much as six figures a month from their singing talents.
Over a hundred local Samoan artists have signed up with Precise Digital to boost their careers through this platform excluding overseas-based Samoans.
In an interview with the Samoa Observer, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Precise Digital, Michael Giles stressed that their distributor company which was co-founded by Mase Josh Mase with Samoan ethnicity is a new-age label without the traditional boundaries that enables local artists to boost their revenues through music and promote their talents in music on various streaming platforms.
"At precise there's a team of people helping artists create content like visuals, lyric videos, and that their catalysts are optimised as best as possible," he said.
"We work a lot with those streaming platforms so make sure that our artists are represented properly and working with a more involved distributor like us makes a really big difference in terms of revenues for our artists.
"It's really cool to see that there's a growing amount of artists that are now able to make a living from their music."
Mr. Giles has been involved in this space since 2010. He started as a content creator and made his own videos to start. From doing that process he learnt that there's a lot about the platform and how it works and how it maximises the views to ensure that revenue is being collected properly.
"That was my background originally and I kind of managed a lot of curation channels so we would help to license music for other brands that want to use music," he explained.
"It kicked off in around 2017 and as a personal passion, working with Polynesian and Samoan artists has been the most rewarding to see their growth."
Mr. Mase explained that at Precise Digital, they do many things and they are like a one-stop shop for many musicians and artists around the world which started in the Pacific and now they've reached globally.
"We represent them on all platforms that play music so anywhere and anyone from Spotify to Apple Music and even Social media as well, we represent all our artists and creators on this platform," he added.
"We do everything from music distributions which is the process of getting your music up on these platforms and getting it played, very complicated music publishing but to make it simple it's the representation of the original song.
"Third, one is YouTube which is a very big part of our company and it's basically what Michael built Precise on and what Precise is about."
Having worked with a majority of Samoans from the country and overseas, an estimated amount that was given by the founders was six figures per month on a high end which an artist can earn through Precise Digital.
It's the new era of earning for artists especially the local artists to need to make ends meet for their families through their careers.
Asked whether they plan to visit Samoa and explain in person to the young aspiring artists in Samoa how this platform can change their lives, Mr. Mase and Mr. Giles said yes that is the plan and they wish to inspire more young Samoans interested in music.
They also stressed that Samoan artists and their music are on the top of the charts in New Zealand which is a positive fact that can also convince many artists to try out this platform.
