One of the three women taken into police custody last week with a man who claimed to be an eye-witness to a two-year-old hit-and-run case was charged and released on bail.

This was confirmed by Police Commissioner, Auapa'aau Logoitino Filipo in response to queries from Samoa Observer on Thursday.

Auapa'au confirmed that she is accused of harbouring the couple, which he explained is not serious enough to keep her in custody.

She is to sign at Faleata Outpost on Tuesday and Friday before 4:00 pm until the 20 of February when the matter is called in court.

Last week, police captured Sam Sua who claimed to be an eyewitness to an unsolved hit-and-run case in 2021 while he was approaching a law firm in Tamaligi.

Sam Sua also known as Fauena Leautuli Toese Sua or Sam Simiko was accompanied by two women when he was captured and all were taken in for questioning by the police.

Sam’s lawyer is Lagaaia Fetu Lagaaia whose office is located on the fourth floor of the John William Building, Tamaligi.

The other two women who were taken in by police include Sam’s wife Sivai Kepi Mamea also known as Ruby and another woman alleged to have been harbouring him.

In an interview with the Samoa Observer, Lagaaia confirmed Sam was taken by Police while he was making his way to his office.
