Samoa will be hosting the Chief Justice Leadership Forum next month bringing together 15 leaders of the Pacific judiciary to review and discuss priority activities.

Chief Justice Satiu Simativa Perese said the conference will be attended by Chief Justices from New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Niue, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Nauru, Marshall Islands, and Vanuatu.

The meeting will be held at the Taumeasina Island Resort for three days from 19 February to 21 February.

The forum provides Pacific Chief Justices with the opportunity to share their insights and challenges.

According to the Pacific Justice Sector Programme (PJSP), the Chief Justice Leadership Forum is focused on growing collegiality between Pacific Chief Justices.

“It creates opportunities for sharing challenges and successes through an annual face-to-face conference, remote meetings, and webinar on topics identified by Chief Justices.”

Chief Justice Perese also informed the legal fraternity during the Ministry of Justice Courts and Administration (MJCA) prayer meeting about training in capacity building for lawyers especially those appearing before the Court.

The training is organised by the Pacific Justice Sector Programme.

In July last year Samoa also played host to the inaugural Pasefika Lawyers Conference that attracted more than two hundred members of the legal fraternity at the TATTE building.
