Samoan women can achieve anything said telecommunication company Vodafone Samoa as they shared sentiments about Miss Global Samoa's performance throughout the Miss Global competition.

Speaking exclusively to the Samoa Observer from Cambodia, Rana Bose, the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O.) of Vodafone Samoa, praised the diligent efforts and determination demonstrated by Haylani Pearl Kuruppu.

He said Ms. Kuruppu's achievement is a perfect example that Samoan women can achieve anything if given the proper resources and support.

"Interestingly, in our boardroom where we discuss business strategy, for a change, we discussed strategies to win at a global beauty pageant," Mr. Bose said.

"Lots of strategies were discussed by the best minds at Vodafone to support the tough competition.

"We agreed on three things."

First on their list was to find the best possible candidate and Ms. Kuruppu who is a former Miss Samoa was an obvious choice for Vodafone Samoa given that they had been working together throughout her reign as Miss Samoa.

They were aware of her potential, talents, and confidence.

Secondly, the telecommunication company looked at the possibility of providing world-class training so they sent Ms. Kuruppu to the Philippines to be trained by the best people in the fashion industry ahead of the pageant.

Lastly, Vodafone agreed to provide all logistical support for Ms. Kuruppu.

"We wanted her to focus on the pageant, while the Vodafone team takes care of visa, travel, insurance, outfits and other things."

While it was challenging in the beginning when they first announced the initiative, Mr. Bose said they understand that anything new in life comes with a lot of challenges.

"Achieving greatness don’t come easy," he added.

"It can a be tough ride and we face every obstacle that may come in the way. We are not scared of challenges.

"That’s the DNA of Vodafone Samoa."

He then used the opportunity to acknowledge Samoa's support throughout Ms. Kuruppu's journey at the Miss Global beauty contest.

He also made special mention to the Deputy Prime Minister, Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio for his support and for personally showing up at the Vodafone Headquarters last year to crown Ms. Kuruppu as the official candidate for Samoa.

Miss Global Samoa was the first runner-up at the competition.
