Miss Samoa, Moemoana Safa'atoa Schwenke is gearing up to showcase her island nation at the upcoming Miss Pacific Islands pageant scheduled to take place from 28 January to 4 February.

The prestigious event is set to unfold in Nauru, marking a significant milestone as it will be the inaugural event for Nauru as hosts of this regional pageant.

Miss Samoa is poised to bring her charm and grace to the stage, representing her homeland with pride and elegance during this momentous occasion.

This newspaper has been trying to get an opportunity to interview Ms. Schwenke on her preparations for the pageant.

However, we understand that she needed permission from the organisers, Onomea Production who opted to have a press conference instead of a one-on-one interview.

Conversely, Ms. Schwenke conveyed her deep sense of honour and pride in representing Samoa at the regional pageant in a heartfelt social media post.

"I feel honoured to represent my beautiful islands of Samoa at the upcoming Miss Pacific Islands pageant hosted by Nauru," Ms. Schwenke wrote.

"I will carry my Samoan people, culture and environment with the utmost pride. My love for my island, and all the islands of the Pacific, knows no bounds!

"Uniting with other strong, gifted and beautiful sisters from across our ocean continent, makes me excited.

"Despite being from different islands, there are so many aspects that connect us. Our connection lies in our shared ocean, cultural values, our deep histories of the Pacific and so much more.

"May this platform continue to celebrate and safeguard our sacred cultures that will be a precious source of inspiration for our future generations

"Your prayers and support mean the world as my team and I prepare for this significant event."

Miss Samoa hails from the villages of Auala, Asau, and Matavai Safune in Savai'i, Taufusi, Matautu Lefaga, and Vaimea in Upolu.

She was born in Samoa and raised between New Zealand and Australia and is the eldest daughter of Frederick Schwenke and Maryjane Mckibbin-Schwenke.

Her mother Maryjane is renowned for her siva Samoa and as a former Miss Samoa and Miss South Pacific 1997-1998.

The Miss Pacific Island has confirmed that a son of Samoa, Kennyon Brown who traveled to Samoa last year will be a guest performer at the pageant.

They also confirmed that Nauru Airlines is offering exclusive discount flights as the official carriers of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in Nauru.
